We work with Woburn Safari Park and Abbey, to provide their till systems across the entire estate.

The background

Woburn Safari Park first opened in 1970. It was established by the 13th Duke of Bedford on the grounds of his estate. The reason for opening  was to improve their financial position and enable restoration of the Abbey. It had fallen into disrepair during the 2nd World War.

The issue

The site today has a large number of retail and hospitality outlets. They are spread across the estate and within the Abbey itself. There are cafe’s, restaurants, gift shops, adventure play and Go-Ape. The park wanted a new EPoS system that could better cope with the range of outlets, products and stock management.

The solution

By installing our touch screen till system across the park, we were able to bring everything inline. This meant it was far easier for Woburn Safari Park management team to track and report on sales and stock.

This system is fully scaleable. Which came in handy down the line with the addition of two new outlets on site.

In 2009, when Go-Ape and a new shop, The Trading Post were introduced, it was a quick and easy process to add in the physical till systems and get connected to the existing set up.

Tailoring the till screens

One of the great features of our single system is that you can have it in every outlet, retail or hospitality, but tailor the screens to fit the location.

The food outlets have a till screen bespoke to their product range and customer options. Go-Ape, although using the same software have the customer options relevant for their outlet on their screens. The flexibility here is means every screen could be different if that was the requirement.

Using the same system, even with bespoke screens by area, means there’s a common skill set required. This helps to limit the amount of training each staff member requires. It also helps with staff planning with people being able to cover different areas.

Stock and inventory software

Built into our EPoS system is our stock and inventory software. This has been fantastic for Woburn Safari Park because stock is tracked via every till point.

The result is the management team have a single, real-time view of where stock is and what’s selling. Gone are the days of daily manual stock checks and being reliant on people and time. This has saved the park so much time. But also reduced the manual processing element that can impact negatively on employee satisfaction.
