GLEE round up for 2019

Curve

GLEE 2019 is a wrap and what a fantastic time we had at the show.

For garden centres, GLEE is the largest buying event of the year. Open for three days at the NEC in Birmingham, the show welcomed over 7,000 visitors.

We were delighted with our new look this year. We had a fantastic new stand and we tried out some interactive games and features to really showcase our service offering to all the garden centre owners and managers who visited the show.

It was also a first for us working with the Glee Retail Lab. We had a live set up of one of our self-serve checkouts within the ‘lab’.

Romeo Sommers, Creative Director of the Glee Retail Lab, hosted three talks everyday of the show to guide garden centre owners through how they can gear their centre up for urban gardeners and those new to gardening. It was fantastic to hear him recommending self-serve as an ideal solution for garden centres to embrace. He was quick to point out that research shows that self-serve does NOT increase the instances of theft which he says is a concern for centre owners.

It was great to hear Romeo talking through the benefits of having self-serve checkouts available in store and seeing attendees interested in this technology.

Self serve checkouts can also be used for pre ordering food, which could be another fantastic use for them within a garden centre environment.
